What is Worbla?

Worbla Art Series are thermoplastic materials from German company Cast4Art designed to create props, costumes and prototypes. Obenie Worbla series is 9 different products with different characteristics. This includes 2 thermoplastic pellet models and 7 types of sheets. Among the granules we distinguish Worbla Deco Art and Crystal Art. These are completely different materials. The former is white, can be painted, activates at 60°C and is much easier to work with than Crystal Art, which by contrast needs a temperature of 110°C. Instead, it is transparent and can be tinted to create illuminated effects with it. Among the sheets for beginners we recommend Worbla Finest Art. It is the basic, simplest, but comprehensive material. Unfortunately, its surface is slightly rough so if you need something smooth then we recommend Black Art, Pearly Art or Flame Art. What makes them stand out? Worbla Black Art is black, incredibly smooth and has a very fine texture thanks to which it stretches evenly. Pearly Art is white, it too is smooth, but it is distinguished from its black counterpart by a stronger adhesive that will allow it to be joined with other pieces of Worbla or with other materials. Flame Art has a similarly smooth texture to Black and Pearly Art, but stands out for something completely different. It is a fireproof material classified as flame retardant designed for professional use where fire regulations play an important role. And besides, it has excellent modeling properties.

What are the characteristics of the other Worbla Art Series products?

Meshed Art is covered with a reinforcing mesh, which makes it less prone to stretching, tearing or the formation of clearances. Transpa Art it is flexible and at the same time stable which means that it keeps the shape given to it. Most importantly, it is transparent which gives many possibilities. KobraCast is Worbel's most versatile material. It has a special stretchable mesh that makes it highly flexible but resistant to tearing. the material is perforated which becomes visible when the material is activated and stretched. It will certainly be suitable in projects consisting of many curves. All Worbla Art Series products are non-toxic and solvent-free materials.

What is thermoplastic material?

Thermoplastics are those plastics that become plastic under the influence of an appropriate temperature. After cooling, they become stiff again and retain the shape given to them. In industry, they are formed by pressing or injection molding. We offer our thermoplastics in sheet and pellet form. These are low-melting materials which means that they are activated at temperatures between 60°C and 110°C.

What distinguishes Worbla thermoplastics and Cosplayflex?

Worbla and Cosplayflex are sold in sheets in sizes ranging from 37.5cm x 50cm to 1.5m x 1m. They can be reactivated multiple times so that, and once used, you can recycle the material again. At the same time, these products are almost waste-free because in most cases their remnants can be glued together. Thanks to the plasticity they achieve at relatively low temperatures, they can be easily molded. Enable you to create in a fairly easy way and in a short time to create designs of complex shape. Most of them resemble plastic. Only Cosplayflex Clear is in rubber mat form so it is much more flexible. As it is transparent it is suitable for illuminated designs. And thanks to its consistency and thickness, it imprints very well in molds. Worbla Transpa Art is also a transparent material. It differs from Cosplayflex Clear in that it is stiffer and better retains the shape given to it.

What material to choose?

Each of the thermoplastics Cosplayflex and Worbla have different characteristics and applications. Cosplayflex is the basic material for the construction of most costumes. This one is mostly recommended to novice users because of its versatility, ease of use and lower price. For the more discerning, Worbla will certainly be a better choice. Black Art is very smooth and has a fine texture. Pearly Art is also incredibly smooth, but at the same time white and has a very strong heat-activated adhesive. Flame Red is used by professionals for whom safety and fire regulations play an important role because this variety is fireproof. Meshed Art has a mesh that prevents the plastic from tearing during operation. For this, the most versatile and unique material is the Cobra Cast. It is thinner and has a durable and stretchable mesh. It is a perfect complement to textiles because it allows to give and keep shapes.
